Testing at Vanderbilt and other Updates

Cathy and I are making a quick trip to Vanderbilt on Friday, July 23. Dr. Lee contacted me this afternoon and wants to do a Single Nerve Fiber EMG to check on the myasthenia gravis in the morning. This test is 95-100% diagnostic in myasthenia gravis. We should know for sure after this test.

I had a long-term followup appointment with Dr. Brackett my internist/rheumatologist this Wednesday. I though it would be a good idea for a fresh set of eyes look at my situation. He told Cathy that I was one of those type of cases which end up on Medical Board Exams. He did blood work looking for several types of autoimmune diseases. He ordered an ultrasound to check out my abdomen also. This was to double-check for a very rare condition called POEMS, since I have some of the symptoms. I had the ultrasound this morning and I do NOT have enlarged internal organs. This means that I do NOT have POEMS. My followup appointment is in one month.

I went back to the Chattanooga Heart Institute today. Dr. Warren talked with Cathy and me about his final report. The heart catheterization showed no blockages, no sign of cholesterol, enlargement, or any other problems. I have a good, strong heart. The twenty-four heart monitor showed my rate between 54 and 140, but no irregularities or concerns. So, he has released me unless I unexpectedly develop a heart problem. But, that is highly unlikely.
